Email your mailing list
The first thing you should do in the quest to get your first 100 podcast listeners is email your mailing list about it!

Seeing as this also marks the start of your podcast promotion, go ahead and also record the date you do this and the name of the podcast in the form field below.

Now, granted, this may not be applicable if you’re starting from scratch; in this case, go ahead and email as many people that you know who might be interested in the topic! If you personally know them, go ahead and ask them to share it too.

Update your signature in your email provider
The next thing you need to do is to update your signature in your email provider. Insert a link to your new podcast and record the new signature with the form field below.

Now you should share the new podcast through every (personal) avenue possible! Use the sub-checklist below to keep track of where you have posted the podcast to, in order to avoid duplicates.

How to Make Your Podcast SEO Friendly https://digitalmarketingsupermarket.com/how-to-make-your-podcast-seo-friendly/ https://digitalmarketingsupermarket.com/how-to-make-your-podcast-seo-friendly/#respond Sat, 19 Sep 2020 12:32:35 +0000 https://digitalmarketingsupermarket.com/?p=35203 How to Make Your Podcast SEO Friendly

Podcasting.

You’ve heard about it before and I bet you’ve even listened to a handful of podcasts. But you probably haven’t created one yet.

Just think of it this way…

There are over 1 billion blogs and roughly 7 billion people in this world. That’s 1 blog for every 7 people…

On the other hand, there are roughly 700,000 podcasts. That means there is only 1 podcast for every 10,000 people or so.

Podcasting is 1,428 times less competitive than blogging.

So, should you waste your time on podcasting?

Well, let me ask you this… do you want a new way to get more organic traffic from Google?

I’m guessing you said yes. But before I teach you how to do that, let me first break down some podcasting stats for you, in case you aren’t convinced yet.

Is podcasting even worth it?
From a marketing and monetization standpoint, podcasting isn’t too bad.

I have a podcast called Marketing School that I do with my buddy Eric Siu. We haven’t done much to market it and over time it’s grown naturally.

The facts
According to research in 2014, there are over 150,000 podcasts in the world. Podcasting is a medium that grows around 30% year on year, with podcast directory Stitcher hosting 40,000+ podcasts alone. That seems like an awful lot, but the subject matter is extremely diverse and anyone with a specific enough niche has an equal chance to stand out.

Back in 2013, iTunes announced it had hit 1 billion podcast subscribers and way back in 2011, Libsyn hosted over 10,000 shows, with over 1.6 billion downloads from 18 million monthly audience members.

The growth seen by podcast hosting services since Apple popularized the podcast in 2005 is very significant for businesses.

By now you probably get the idea: podcasting is a very big deal, and if you’re not tapping into it you’re missing out on a big chunk of your potential audience. Let’s get underway and take a closer look.

The podcast’s purpose

The purpose of a podcast is mainly to generate interest in your website. Pat Flynn of SmartPassiveIncome cites podcasting as the #1 way people find his website.
